Who We Are

WELCOME

Thank you for investigating Canon Christian Academy (CCA). We understand that selecting a private school to meet the needs of your family is an important one. The mission, vision and philosophy of any school you consider should be a clear extension of your own personal beliefs and values. As a ministry of Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley (CCRGV), we uphold and teach the doctrines of the Bible, and seek to assist parents in their God-given responsibility to educate their children.

We hope this site will answer your questions; however, if there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to contact me directly at 505-459-0912.

OUR DISTINCTIVES

Canon Christian Academy (CCA) is a unique learning environment marked by three key distinctive, these are:

  • Christ Centered. The primary difference between CCA and state run school is God! We are convicted that a Christ-centered academic approach makes math purposeful, history accurate, science true, and literature meaningful.
  • Superior Academics. At CCA we strive to go beyond imparting and retrieving knowledge to developing the critical and analytical skills necessary to excel academically.
  • Student Discipleship. Discipleship addresses the whole student. Jesus explained the most important commandment was to love God with all your heart (emotion), soul (spirit), mind (intellect), and strength (character). The Academy has created a purposeful and safe environment to address all areas of student development.

OUR MISSION

The mission of CCA has been given by Christ Himself. Known as the “Great Commission”, it is accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our mission is simply to:

“Make Disciples”
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age.”
(Matt. 28:19-20)

OUR VISION

To raise Disciples of Jesus who are:

Spiritually mature,
Intellectually equipped,
Emotionally secure, and
Strong in Character.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

God has clearly given parents the responsibility to educate their children. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children” (Deut 6:6) The Bible presents a plan for education where parents carefully choose the tutors and stewards they place their children under and churches provide teachers and tutors to disciple the people (1 Cor 4:15, Gal 4:2, Matt 10:24, Luke 2:46, 1 Cor 12:28). CCA supports parents seeking to obey God’s command. We partner with parents to help educate their children.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe:

  • In one God, the creator and sustainer of the universe, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • In the divine inspiration, infallibility and final authority of the Bible as the Word of God.
  • In the uniqueness of man, by virtue of his special creation in God’s image, and his responsibility to understand
and master the world to the glory of God.
  • In the unique Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate, virgin-born Son of God.
  • In the representative and substitutionary death of our Lord Jesus Christ as the necessary atonement for our sins.
  • In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord and that blessed hope, His personal return.
  • In the power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration and His continuing work in the heart of the believer.
  • In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
  • In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • That marriage is exclusively the legal union of one genetic male and one genetic female sanctioned by the state
and evidenced by the marriage ceremony.
